Let’s Get Started!

Body

Create a mr and ch 1
Round 1: Into the mr, create 6 sc (6)
Round 2: Sc inc (12).
Round 3: 1 sc in one st, an inc in the next st. Repeat (18).
Round 4: 1 sc in the next 2 sts, and inc in the nex st. Repeat (24).
Round 5: 1 sc in the next 3 sts, and inc in the next st. Repeat (30).
Round 6: 1 sc in the next 4 sts, and inc in the next st. Repeat (36).
Round 7:1 sc in the next 5 sts, and inc in the next st. Repeat (42).
Round 8-19: Sc the round (42).
If you’re plastic eyes, place them in between round 11 and 12. If you’re sewing in your eyes like I did, you do that at the very end!
Round 20: sc in the next 5 sts, and dec in the next st. Repeat (36)
Round 21: sc in the next 4 sts, and dec in the next st. Repeat (30)
Round 22: sc in the next 3 sts, and dec in the next st. Repeat (24)
Round 23: sc in the next 2 sts, and dec in the next st. Repeat (18)
Start stuffing the body here, otherwise the opening will be too small!
Round 24: 1 sc in one st, and dec in the next st. Repeat (12)
Round 25: Sc dec the round (6)
Round 26: FO and cut a long tail. Finish stuffing. Using your darning needle, create a drawstring closure with your tail.

Wings

Create a mr and ch 3
Round 1: Create 15 dc into the mr and slst to the top of your ch 3 (16)
Round 2: Ch 3, and dc inc the whole round. Slst to the top of your ch 3 (32)
Round 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in one st, an inc in the next st. Repeat. Slst to the top of your ch 3 (48)
Round 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in one st, an inc in the next st. Repeat. Slst to the top of your ch 3 (64)
Round 5: Ch 3, 3 dc in one st, an inc in the next st. Repeat. Slst to the top of your ch 3 (80)
Round 6: Ch 3, 4 dc in one st, an inc in the next st. Repeat. Slst to the top of your ch 3 (96)
Now that you have a circle, fold it in half without cutting your yarn. Working backwards into both sides of the wing, you will:
Round 7:  Ch 3 and create a tc in the same st. Create 9 sc, and then create a tc inc. Repeat until the end of the wing.

Round 8: FO and snip your working yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ears

Round 1: Ch 5
Round 2: Sc one row, ch 1, and turn (5)
Round 3: Dc the row three times, ch 1, and turn (5)
Round 4: Dd2tog, Dc3tog, ch 1,  and turn (2)
Round 5: DC2tog (1)
Round 6: FO and snip your working yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

For your wings: bring the tail of your wing through to your darning needle and sew into the back of your bat. With one wing sewn on, you will layer the other wing over it and sew it to the back of your nocturnal friend as well.
For the ears: using the long tail and your darning needle, sew your ears one at a time at the very top of the head. The ears will be curly, cute, and floppy!
