Welcome back to another edition of Color Swatches For The Soul, where we are taking a closer look at the symbolism of shades, and how to set the mood for your craft projects, fashion, and lifestyle with color psychology! Today we’re looking at Daffodil.
The Yellow Family
The color yellow represents joy, cheerful sunshine, and positivity! If blue is what you think and feel, while red is what you do about it, then yellow is the secret sauce: the intentions and beliefs behind your state of being! Yellow is a very here-and-now hue, and increases the pace of a project or color palette, just as time flies when you’re having fun! It is opposite the wide-scoped purple on the color wheel, and as such, it takes a short focus on something, rather than looking at everything.
How Daffodil Sets The Mood
Daffodil is a light shade of yellow, and takes on an air of vibrance, innocence, simple joys, and open honesty. It is often associated with spring, newborns, and good clean fun! The color daffodil symbolizes a sense of happiness that is untarnished, and not threatened by the outstanding world.
How To Use Daffodil In Your Craft Projects
Daffodil can work wonderfully as a base color, a decoration, or a finishing touch to any craft leaning towards bright, lively colors. It is a very grateful color, welcoming complex patterns (especially florals) or can stand by itself.Daffodil is a great color to use in homemade gifts for offering congratulations, including baby showers, house warming parties, and the success of minor surgeries. This color opens up to a bright and sunny future, and says ‘You made it, enjoy!’
Color Palettes For Daffodil
Daffodil pairs easily with most if not all pastel colors. It also can take the spotlight position next to jewel tones, giving a sturdy basis to its soft and quick-paced joy, or team up with soft, slightly desaturated colors like cornflower blue to embrace a long-term lifestyle of positivity and resourceful optimism. Unlike some colors that clash easily when mismatched, daffodil has a strong sense of playfulness, and will at least entertain compatibility with any color it meets.
This soft, fresh color is a master of clean slates and feeling renewed. Embrace daffodil yellow when it is time to take a deep breath, and enjoy the fruits of your efforts!
If you can feel it, there’s a color for it!
