1. When did you start knitting/crocheting? How did you learn?
My Grams Isabel, is the reason that knitting/crocheting peeked my interest. I have vivid recollections of her always crocheting when I was young. She would sit me down next to her, while she worked on something intricate with lace, and I would make long crochet chains that she’d taught me. I didn’t take crochet seriously until my first daughter was born, and by then I was determined to make more than just chains. I taught myself how to crochet and then knitting because it seemed like the next obvious step.
2. What is your favorite memory involving knitting/crocheting?
The slow afternoons I spent with my Grams watching her as she created magic out of sting.
3. What inspired you to create your own small business?
Creativity, I wanted to share my art with the world and be able to connect with other like minded people.
4. What has been the biggest challenge you have faced so far in your fiber arts career?
The biggest challenge I face is overthinking EVERYTHING, combine that with my perfectionism it can be complete chaos! But I’ve learned to be kinder to myself and give myself some grace.
5. What tips do you have for other crafters who are looking to take their art to the next level?
Never get too comfortable! If you’re too comfortable you stop growing, not only in your business but also as a person!
6. What’s next for you?
Expanding my business more, you’ll be able to find Odd Knots + Threads originals at local small shops soon. I also have a few more designs coming out and a new pin in production for all you pin collectors out there. Until then I’ll be here drinking all the coffee while I tackling mom life and shop life one day at a time!
